- Expect that I will learn.
- Facilitate friendships.
Encouragement
- Encourage independence.
- Plan outrageously fun lessons.
- Always speak kindly. Ask, "What do you need?"
Interaction
- If I am loud, be quiet. When I am happy, rejoice with me.
- Be gentle. Remember, I am a person first.
- Be safe. Attribute the best possible motive consistent with the facts.
Independence
- Encourage interdependence. Help me connect with other students.
- Allow us to create together, laugh together, and have fun together.
- Assume friendship is possible. Engage me. Allow choice.
Trust
- Be trustworthy. If I am sad, know I am unsure.
- Spark curiosity. Wipe my tears. Be respectful.
- Assume competence always.
Learning Environment
- Do not control. Be a learner yourself.
- Let me learn with other students. Relax.
- Share positive stories with my parents. Breathe.
Supportive Questions
- Ask, "How can I best help you?"
- Encourage softly.
- Set me up to be successful. Lead by loving. Be positive.

When I have difficulties, kindly redirect. Include me.
