FUN THINGS TO DO
WITH OLDER TODDLERS
Play a guessing game. Experiment with sounds. Use your voices to make loud sounds and soft sounds. Ask the toddler to reach in and try to guess what the item is without looking at it.
Create a "gas station" for tricycles and other riding toys. Remember that for 2-year-olds, the fun is in the process, not the final result! You can use a hose, jump rope, or empty watering can to fill the "gas tanks."
Make doll furniture. Use diaper boxes, tissue boxes, or other boxes to build beds, chairs, or cradles for dolls and stuffed animals.
Help children act out a simple, familiar story. Often this is easiest when an adult takes the narrator's role, cuing children when to play their parts.
Read an animal book together and act out the animal motions it describes. Have your own animal parade with others!
