About the ASQfi:SE-2 French Questionnaires

Ages & Stages Questionnairesfi: Social-Emotional in French, Second Edition (ASQfi:SE-2 in French) was developed to support programs serving diverse families and to promote universal screening. The translation was completed by Suzie McKinnon, Ph.D., who is a native French speaker, researcher, and associate professor of special education at the University of QuØbec at Trois-RiviŁres (UQTR), Canada. She was assisted by Carmen Dionne, Ph.D., a bilingual (French/English) professor of special education at UQTR. Both Dr. McKinnon and Dr. Dionne have extensive knowledge of early intervention, particularly serving children with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.

The French questionnaires were reviewed by experts from different French-speaking countries, including Canada, France, and Switzerland, to ensure the translation is accurate as widely accessible as possible for parents from different countries.

The French questionnaires were field-tested with French-speaking parents in child care centers in QuØbec, Canada. Separate cutoff points have not been empirically derived; ASQ:SE-2 French uses the same cutoffs as the English version of ASQ:SE-2. Research projects conducted to study the psychometric properties of ASQ:SE-2 French are not comprehensive enough to provide separate normative data on French children at this time. Results and cutoffs should be viewed with consideration to language and cultural differences. Parents should be referred for further assessment if they have any concerns about their child's development.
