Twenty‐six percent of children in the United States will witness or experience a traumatic event before they turn four.* Exposure to trauma may increase aggression, oppositional behavior, impulsivity, and anxiety in young children—but fortunately, there are steps teachers can take to understand and address the impact of trauma on children and their families.
